DPP Heavyweight Cheng Wen-tsan Pleads Not Guilty to Corruption Charges

A leading figure in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, Cheng Wen-tsan, appeared in court for the first time to plead not guilty to charges of corruption. Cheng is accused of taking a bribe related to a development project for Formosa Plastics Group while he was serving as mayor of Taoyuan. Cheng also served as head of the Cross-Straits Foundation and as the country's vice premier.
