Former Vice Premier Detained After Third Bail Hearing in Corruption Probe

The Taoyuan District Court has detained former Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan after a third bail hearing amid allegations he took bribes while he was Taoyuan mayor from 2014 to 2022. It’s the result of a back-and-forth battle between prosecutors and the district court, which has twice released Cheng on bail.
