Opposition Lawmakers Visit Taiwan-Governed Taiping Island in South China Sea

A group of opposition lawmakers has returned to Taiwan’s main island after visiting Taiping Island, also known as Itu Aba, a hotly contested landmass in the South China Sea governed by Taiwan. Now they’re calling on incoming President Lai Ching-te to do what his predecessor didn’t—reaffirm the country’s sovereignty over the island.
