The Epitome of Aesthetics: Proportion
This video in the National Palace Museum's series about aesthetics discusses proportions and ratios in artworks. The so-called "golden ratio" is considered to be most aesthetically pleasing. Proportions are also used to portray depth perception. In Eastern artwork, those objects thought to be more distant are more detailed than those in Western art, and changing those proportions creates new possibilities.
