Delhi resisting US pressure to condemn Ukraine invasion
There is a lot of talk about China’s support of Russia – but what about India, the only major country close to the United States that hasn’t condemned the invasion of Ukraine? Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is on a trip to New Delhi, with Indian and Russian officials reportedly set to discuss a rupee-ruble way of paying for oil and other goods. The U.S. and Australia have criticized India for considering such a trade arrangement, which could undermine U.S.-led international sanctions against Moscow. While support for Russia is strong within India, the war is having a cost there.
