A Forest of Sacred Trees: Alishan Railway Travel
The creative team took advantage of the latest in cinematography to highlight the breathtaking landscapes and several unique features of the railroad tracks like figure-eight loops, zig-zag tracks, and horseshoe curves. A behind-the-scenes tour that also includes the restoration of a centuries old steam locomotive and the unveiling of Formosensis, an all-new wooden train carriage made in Taiwan with local cypress trees. Alishan Forest Railway takes center stage as we depart from Chiayi Station to explore the natural scenery, cultural settlements, and unique stations along this historic railway network. We’ll call at the bento stands and high-mountain oolong plantations of Fenqihu Station, the lush cypress forests and trails of Sacred Tree station, and the highest railway station in Taiwan, Zhushan Station, just in time for sunrise at an altitude of 2,451 meters above sea level.
