【FAQ】Guidelines for Using Generative AI in the TaiwanPlus Newsroom

We are committed to exploring the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools within our newsroom in a way that is fair and ethical, and respects the principles of good journalism

TaiwanPlus recognizes the powerful opportunities presented by the emerging field of generative AI. We are committed to exploring the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools within our newsroom in a way that is fair and ethical, and respects the principles of good journalism. In that spirit, we have developed the following guidelines:

  • All TaiwanPlus journalists must undergo basic generative AI training.
  • Journalists are strictly forbidden from generating reports and stories using generative AI.
  • We treat generative AI the same way we would treat an unverified source.
  • AI can be a useful tool for translating, working with data, and conducting research. However, if journalists use generative AI to search for facts, they must also request sources and verify them.
  • In the rare situation in which TaiwanPlus News features images or any content created by generative AI, we will make that clear to viewers.
