【FAQ】Guidelines for Using Generative AI in the TaiwanPlus Newsroom

We are committed to exploring the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools within our newsroom in a way that is fair and ethical, and respects the principles of good journalism

TaiwanPlus recognizes the powerful opportunities presented by the emerging field of generative AI. We are committed to exploring the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools within our newsroom in a way that is fair and ethical, and respects the principles of good journalism. In that spirit, we have developed the following guidelines:

  • All TaiwanPlus journalists must undergo basic generative AI training.
  • Journalists are strictly forbidden from generating reports and stories using generative AI.
  • We treat generative AI the same way we would treat an unverified source.
  • The TaiwanPlus Newsroom uses generative AI to create transcripts of our stories and optimize social media posts and headlines. All AI-generated content is reviewed and edited by our newsroom staff before publishing.
  • AI can be a useful tool for translating, working with data, and conducting research. However, if journalists use generative AI to search for facts, they must independently verify them with trusted sources. The final responsibility for accuracy, fairness, and originality always rests with the journalist.
  • When TaiwanPlus News features images or any other content created by generative AI, we will make that clear to viewers.
