In Taiwan, the military spent a week rehearsing a full-scale invasion by China that included an airport takeover and air raid drills that incorporated civilians, reserves and special forces. The annual Han Kuang exercises, Taiwan’s largest military drills, test the country’s combat readiness against a potential PLA invasion. They have done so annually for 39 years. The drills comprise two parts, computer simulations and live-fire drills, which for the first time this year saw troops practicing defending Taiwan’s main international airport.
