As Taiwan continues to be left out of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) meetings for almost a decade, Fan Yun, DPP Legislator and former Taiwan Ambassador-at-Large speaks to Taiwan Talks about why Taiwan's absence endangers global air traffic. She outlines how air traffic safety is a not only a human right, but with over 80% of commerce running through the Taiwan Strait, it is imperative that Taiwan have a seat at the ICAO. Despite fierce opposition from China, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has publicly advocated for Taiwan’s participation and with vocal support from Germany, Taiwan’s future chances of joining has increased.
