On June 21, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military to launch strikes against three suspected nuclear sites inside Iran. In doing so, the United States has officially intervened in Israel’s conflict against Iran, which Trump had previously promised his Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters that he was not going to do. These strikes also mark a notable departure from the foreign policy of his first term, when he canceled the nuclear agreement that President Obama had signed with Tehran but avoided getting the United States embroiled in any new conflicts.
