China launched a four-day live-fire drill on its side of the Gulf of Tonkin just days after Vietnam announced a new baseline to mark what it sees as its territory under UN Law. Tucked up in the northwestern corner of the South China Sea, the Gulf of Tonkin lies between Vietnam and the Chinese militarized island of Hainan.
Hanoi has not reacted to the drills.
