Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been assassinated, prompting Iran, one of the group’s major supporters, to pledge retaliation against the suspected perpetrators. Meanwhile, the U.S. has announced that Congress will approve $3.5 billion dollars in aid for Israel to spend on U.S. weapons and military equipment. How will these developments affect the situation in the Middle East?
