Philippines Counters China With Own Island-Building Plan

The Philippines has successfully resupplied its troops stationed on Second Thomas Shoal, not by sea but by air. It comes days after Manila announced it would develop the islands and features within its territory in the West Philippine (South China) Sea. And after Lai Ching-te won Taiwan’s presidential election on Jan. 13, many countries congratulated him on his victory.
