In an exclusive interview with Taiwan Talks, Stan Shih, co-founder and honorary chair of Acer Group, a top-5 global PC manufacturer known widely for its Aspire and TravelMate notebooks. Stan is a pioneer in the IT world, launching one of Taiwan’s very first start-ups and is a promoter of Taiwan's transformation into the global economy. Stan pushed out the world’s very first Chinese-language PC in 1982. We asked him how he led the company through three global financial crises and revived the company in the midst of the global IT bubble. With fierce competition from government subsidized industries in South Korea and China, Stan shares with us how Taiwan can stay ahead of the game and the unique advantages that lie within the island nation’s innovation.
