A contractor linked to US technology firm Super Micro Computer has pleaded guilty to illegally exporting advanced AI servers to China in a case involving an alleged US$2.5 billion scheme. Ting-Wei “Willy” Sun pleaded guilty to four charges, including conspiracy to violate US export controls. Prosecutors in New York say he arranged for US-made servers containing Nvidia chips to be sent to China without authorization. The case also implicates a Super Micro co-founder and a former manager at the company’s Taiwan office. Super Micro says it has cut ties with the suspects and launched an independent investigation.
