An annual forum between Shanghai and Taipei has been postponed suddenly, leaving even parts of Taiwan's government surprised. Despite Taiwan’s push to modernize its military, a recent image indicates it could still be relying on outdated strategies by not factoring in reforms within China's People's Liberation Army. And Taiwan's former ambassador to the EU and Belgium, Roy Chun Lee, says Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung's recent trip to Europe highlights a new diplomatic approach founded on a shared appreciation for art and culture. Plus: - Four years after applying to join the CPTPP trade pact, Taiwan has yet to obtain the unanimous support required as China’s parallel bid and a lack of consensus from other members hold up the process.  - A computer glitch supposedly caused China-based Spring Airlines to reject Taiwanese passports. The airline says the issue has been fixed and that it takes no sides in politics. - A MediaTek executive says the chip developer is in talks with TSMC to produce some of its chips at TSMC's Arizona facilities.
