India Semiconductor Ambitions: What’s the Hold-Up in Gujarat?
India aims to become a top semiconductor nation by 2032 targeting 3nm chip production and is positioning itself as a global hub. At the heart of its ambitions is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state. Gujarat is rapidly building up output capacity with India’s first commercial chip fab powered by Tata and Taiwan’s PSMC in Dholera and a half million square foot Micron cleanroom in the neighboring city of Sanand. The head of Gujarat State in Taiwan guides us through the rigorous checks to make sure infrastructure projects stay on time and why Gujarat is at the forefront of India’s push for its own Taiwan-style chip ecosystem.
