Why the Iran War Is an Economic ‘Nightmare’ for Japan and Taiwan

The US-Israel war with Iran could economically devastate Japan and Taiwan, as 90% of Japan’s and 60% of Taiwan’s oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Any supply disruption would send shockwaves through both economies, including Taiwan’s vital semiconductor industry. We analyse the risks of the ongoing conflict for two of East Asia’s major economies with Seijiro Takeshita.
