How beloved are board games in Taiwan, where 70% of the population plays online games? We visit only a few of Taiwan’s 250+ bustling board game cafés to meet the community behind them. Lo Yuwen left a Chinese traditional medicine clinic to become a full-time board game designer. Johannes ‘YoYo’ Goeth came from Germany and, together with his wife Peng Yujing, built a board game empire — Swan Panasia Games (新天鵝堡桌遊). Meanwhile, KJ Chang, founder of Mizo Games (迷走工作坊), created the viral game 2045, which has made waves for simulating a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
