China’s planned 60-gigawatt megadam on the Tibetan Plateau is set to become the world’s largest hydropower project. While the project will undoubtedly have an ecological impact, concerns in downstream nations India and Bangladesh have been focused on the geopolitical risks posed by Beijing's increased control over the Yarlung Tsangpo river.
