Magnitude 6.6 Quake Hits off Hualien Coast, Shakes Buildings
People across Taiwan were shaken awake early Wednesday by an earthquake, and phone alerts warning them to seek nearby cover. The quake struck off the coast of Hualien, about 60 kilometers south of Hualien County Hall, causing panic and some damage.
