Rediscover the Fort San Salvador in Heping Island Ch.6: Viewing a Fort Arise
In the 17th century, the Spaniards conquered this place and left shortly afterward. Four centuries later, an archaeological team from Spain set foot on Heping Island in the Pacific port city of Keelung. Deriving its name from the word peace in Chinese characters, Heping Island has since flourished as a melting pot of cultures, architecture, the humanities, and history. Archeologists revive Heping Island’s buried Fort San Salvador and bring to light its historic and cultural significance.
