The University of Hong Kong has removed a statue that commemorated China’s 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. The Pillar of Shame was one of the few public memorials to that event remaining in Hong Kong as the city faces an ongoing crackdown on dissent. Louise Watt reports.
