You can trace the history of Bopiliao through its historical buildings, which are a unique blend of Qing-dynasty, Japanese-style, and early 20th-century Taiwanese architecture. Considered by some to be the cross-section of Bangka (present-day Wanhua District), the neighborhood has enjoyed a high profile since the Bopiliao Historical Block was opened to the public in 2009. Since then, the government has organized exhibitions, held educational activities, and shot TV shows and movies in Bopiliao.
